World famous pet brand Pedigree announces a Metaverse initiative, the first of its kind, the FOSTERVERSE program. The program aims to help dogs in need and combat pet homelessness. The initiative allows real-life rescue dogs to be virtually adopted into the Metaverse. Read on to find out more about the initiative.
What is Fosterverse: the metaverse of Pedigree?
Pedigree Fosterverse addresses real-life parenting issues by providing parenting opportunities to anyone who owns digital property. The metaverse is a new platform for dog adoption. Based on data from Shelter Animals Count, it is suggested that there is a significant increase in animals staying in shelters in the post-pandemic era. Also, about 47% of dogs in shelters are not adopted.
Users can access the Fosterverse program to support dogs in new ways. It allows Decentreland owners to adopt and breed real rescue dogs in their virtual land. Metaverse property owners must upload 3D avatars based on real-life dogs currently featured in Adopt a Pet™ on their Decentraland property. Players can interact with dogs they meet in the metaverse. This includes learning about the background, adoption status, and supporting the dogs in new ways.
Also, dog lovers can adopt a dog they meet in the metaverse in real life. This is regardless of whether they own digital property or not. The Fosterverse allows adoption through adopt a pet. In addition to this, users can also donate to the PEDIGREE Foundation to help similar adoptable pets in need.
New NFT Use Cases for Dogs in Need
This is a fresh frontier for web3 and NFT, unlocking new ways to interact with digital collectibles for social good. People have new ways to interact with and help dogs in need, and the campaign breaks down geographic barriers across the Fosterverse. To add to this, the Pedigree brand is also planning to raise up to $100,000 in donations. These donations help fund foster program grants for shelters and rescues across the country. Animal lovers who participate in the program can also win custom FOSTERVERSE apparel for sport in Decentraland!
“As the first brand to bring adoptable dogs to the Metaverse, we’re proud to be at the forefront of this new virtual reality, supporting our ambition to end pet homelessness.says Jean-Paul Jansen, vice president of marketing for Mars Petcare North America. “Both the Pedigree brand and the Pedigree Foundation have a long history of supporting animal shelters and promoting dog adoption, and this program allows people to support deserving dogs in a new way through the online adoption.”
