Have you ever had a friend who had one of those on-off relationships, like a less than cute Ross and Rachel situation? They always come to you to talk about the latest drama, and it’s funny at first. You love hearing the juicy details of your latest hookup the next morning at brunch. And dutifully, you’re also there for them in bad times: a shoulder to cry on as you tell them that he’s trash and he doesn’t deserve them during the latest breakup.
But then the cycle continues, and you and your friends are getting tired. There may have been a point along the way where your friend sought your advice, but that time was clearly long gone; there’s no point in giving advice if they’re just never going to take it.
At some point, it gets exhausting to keep watching someone stick their hand in the fire and learn nothing. They all agree that they are terrible for each other and that they should just remove the Band-Aid and be done with it for good, for their own benefit and everyone else’s.
Eventually, your emotional bandwidth is maxed out. You want to be an understanding friend, but you’re reaching the limit of listening play-by-play of the most recent breakup or helping them analyze the latest text message. You are exhausted.
Anyway, Twitter still wants to move forward with the Delaware court case even after Elon Musk sent a letter this week saying he intended to buy the social media platform at original price. Twitter’s desire to pursue the lawsuit signals concerns about Musk’s funding for the settlement. And the judge has given both parties until October 28 to close the deal.
I am so tired.
