There's a bit of a denouement theme in this week's trailers. Anthony Mackie finally takes the lead on the big screen after 10 years in the MCU; Ridley Scott plan of more than two decades for Gladiator The sequel is coming to fruition; and we can finally find out what happens next with the big data refinement team at Breaking off.
There's a lot to cover this week, from big-budget movies to outlandish TV shows, so let's get right to it, starting, naturally, with the MCU.
Captain America: Brave New World
In the trailer of Captain America: Brave New WorldThaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford) wants Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) to return to the U.S. Army. He is disheartened by the idea, but is forced to fight a battle after super-soldier Isaiah Bradley attacks the president.
Mackie’s first MCU film as a title character (and, apparently, the first appearance of Red Hulk!) hits theaters on January 14, 2025, so you’ve got plenty of time to catch up. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Before his debut.
F1
Apple and Warner Bros.' new, expensive deals F1 It won't be released in US theaters until June 27, 2025, but it already has a trailer with plenty of racing footage. Brad Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a veteran driver who has been out of the game since a serious accident in the 1990s but is convinced to return to the circuit as a mentor to Joshua Pearse (Damson Idris).
The film sounds as bombastic as director Joseph Kosinski's. Best Weapon: Maverick. Pitt and Idris were not the only ones I actually drive cars for the film, but much of the filming took place at real Formula 1 races.
Gladiator II
The long-awaited Ridley Scott film Gladiator In the sequel, Lucius Verus (Paul Mescal), the nephew of the first film's Emperor Commodus, is now an adult and has no memory of his mother, Lucilla (Connie Nielsen), though he does remember Maximus' (Russell Crowe) rebellion. Now enslaved and inspired by Maximus, Lucius teams up with Macrinus (Denzel Washington) to stage his own uprising, the goal of which is nothing less than the downfall of Rome.
Gladiator II It also stars Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger and opens on November 22.
Bandits of time
Taika Waititi's opinion on Bandits of time It looks like it will have the fantastical pseudo-realism of the Terry Gilliam film on which it is based, but with some changes to the formula, the most important of which is that the Time Bandits are no longer played by little people.
Otherwise, the premise is basically the same: A boy finds himself traveling through time on an adventure with a band of time-traveling thieves. Lisa Kudrow, Rune Temte, Kal-El Tuck, Tadhg Murphey, Kiera Thompson and others star in the Apple TV Plus series, which premieres July 24.
Agatha since always
In Wandavision cleave Agatha since always, Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza) helps Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) break out of an illusion that made her believe she was a detective trying to solve a mysterious murder. However, she discovers that the witch powers she had in Wandavision They're gone, and she needs to form a coven to get them back. Agatha since always begins streaming September 18 on Disney Plus.
Breaking off
Breaking off Season 2 is finally here. It’s been more than two years since the cliffhanger ending of the first season of this bizarre sci-fi thriller about the office. Now, the new season is set to premiere on January 17 on Apple TV Plus. If you haven’t seen the series, don’t worry: The trailer Apple released earlier this week shows off characters Mark (Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lower), Dylan (Zach Cherry), and Irving (John Turturro), but it doesn’t give anything away.
