Like instagram, Threads will now automatically filter out potentially offensive words, phrases, or emoji by default. In a post on Thursday, instagram Adam Mosseri's boss announced that the new Hidden Words feature will apply to both your “Following” and “For You” feeds, along with search results, profiles, and responses to your posts.
If you want to cast a wider net on the content Threads filters, you can add specific words, phrases, or emoji to hide by modifying the option within the app's settings. Meta notes you can turn hidden words on or off at any time. instagram began allowing users to filter abusive words from their comments in 2016 before extending the feature to direct messages.
Additionally, Threads is testing the ability to mute notifications for interactions with your post. As shown in the image shared by Meta, you can press the bell button in the top right corner of a post to turn notifications on or off. The platform is also testing a feature that will allow you to choose who can cite your posts. You can also stop quoting yourself if you don't want anyone to cite your publication.
These new features build on some of the existing Threads controls, which let you choose who can reply to a thread and who can mention you in their threads, replies, or timeline. The platform is also testing a new feature that will allow you to automatically archive your posts, allowing you to hide old content from your profile.
