This guide was originally a simple list of products I've purchased over the years that were good enough to recommend to others. But over time, I wanted to expand things to include tools and devices that help solve life's little challenges. After all, there's nothing like the feeling of suddenly finding yourself in a bind and realizing that the solution is already in your pocket or purse. Or at least, if they don't solve the problems, these devices will help you pass your time more pleasantly. So if you're looking for a gift for Father's Day, graduation, or any other occasion where the recipient will appreciate a finely crafted tool, here's a list of some of my favorite everyday carry products available today.
For a long time I was looking for a way to trim my keychain while adding utility to it, and with the Q3 silent transport, I think I found the answer. It's capable of holding four wrenches (or up to eight with the included extension posts) in its extremely durable titanium housing, along with the option of a small knife or multi-tool. For me, the utility blade is perfect for quickly screwing on a tripod mount or opening a bottle, while the removable pocket clip makes it very easy to attach the Q3 to your pants or belt loop. All in all, it's a clean and compact way to store your keys and helps keep them from making noise too, which is an added bonus.

For years, I was undecided about whether I really needed to carry a flashlight every day. But after too many times of fumbling in the dark, I started looking for options and landed on the amazon;elmt:;cpos:1;pos:1;sec:large-product;subsec:commlist;pkgt:square-editorial;pos:3;cpos:2″ href=”https://shopping.yahoo.com/rdlw?merchantId=66ea567a-c987-4c2e-a2ff-02904efde6ea&siteId=us-engadget&pageId=1p-autolink&featureId=editorial-text-link&merchantName=amazon&custData=eyJzb3VyY2VOYW1lIjoiV2ViLURlc2t0b3AtVmVyaXpvbiIsImxhbmRpbmdVcmwiOiJodHRwczovL3d3dy5hbWF6b24uY29tL09MSUdIVC1BZGp1c3RhYmxlLVJlY2hhcmdlYWJsZS1GbGFzaGxpZ2h0cy0wLTkwJTI1MjVDMiUyNTI1QjBBcnRpY3VsYXRpbmcvZHAvQjBDS1o1NDZITS8_dGFnPWdkZ3QwYy1wLXYtcWgtMjAiLCJjb250ZW50VXVpZCI6IjA4Y2QzYTI0LTFlN2YtNDRjNy05MDQ0LTVjODVlZmJmMTE1YyJ9&signature=AQAAAYs4LCo_tHTWzRyOKhCLTRKtlXRPaTMPeQrOiwipMtAO&gcReferrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FOLIGHT-Adjustable-Rechargeable-Flashlights-0-90%2525C2%2525B0Articulating%2Fdp%2FB0CKZ546HM%2F” class=”link rapid-with-clickid etailiffa-link” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank” data-ylk=”slk:Olight Arkflex;elm:affiliate_link;sellerN:amazon;elmt:;cpos:1;pos:1;sec:large-product;subsec:commlist;pkgt:square-editorial;pos:3;cpos:2;itc:0″>Olight Arkflex. Despite a super sleek body that measures just 0.67 inches thick and 4.25 inches long, this little device has a maximum output of up to 1000 lumens, which is much better than the 15-year-old Maglite I usually have around. hand for emergencies. If you just need a little illumination while walking, it can output a constant 100 lumens for almost seven hours on a single charge. But the best thing about Arkflex is that it is the world's first flashlight with a 90-degree articulating head. This means you can turn it upside down, tie it to a backpack strap, and it will still shine forward. Or, using its reversible clip, you can clip it to the brim of a hat and use it as a reflector.
The only drawback is that Arkflex uses a patented magnetic loading disc. But don't worry, because for anyone who prefers something with a USB-C port, the Streamlight Wedge/XT wedge or the Nitecore EDC25which have similar specifications and dimensions (although without the handy folding head) but with universal power input.

There is an infinite variety of multi-tools, but for me the Leatherman Skeleton Tool It offers the perfect balance between size, weight and functionality. In the 10 years I've had mine, it has never let me down once. It's available in a wide range of colors, while Leatherman's strategic cutouts help keep the weight of its stainless steel frame to a minimum (just five ounces). And thanks to its needle-nose pliers, combination blade, large-blade screwdriver, and more, you've got all the major bases covered. So while it may not be as detailed as its larger rivals, its lightweight and compact size means it's the first one I grab before running out the door.

Since we're still in the midst of transitioning from USB-A to USB-C, this simple device is not only the cheapest gift on this list, but it's also the one I use the most. amazon;elmt:;cpos:1;pos:1;sec:large-product;subsec:commlist;pkgt:square-editorial;pos:3;cpos:4″ href=”https://shopping.yahoo.com/rdlw?merchantId=66ea567a-c987-4c2e-a2ff-02904efde6ea&siteId=us-engadget&pageId=1p-autolink&featureId=editorial-text-link&merchantName=amazon&custData=eyJzb3VyY2VOYW1lIjoiV2ViLURlc2t0b3AtVmVyaXpvbiIsImxhbmRpbmdVcmwiOiJodHRwczovL3d3dy5hbWF6b24uY29tL1NhbkRpc2stMjU2R0ItVWx0cmEtRHJpdmUtVHlwZS1DL2RwL0IwN1lZSkwyMVovP3RhZz1nZGd0MGMtcC12LXFoLTIwIiwiY29udGVudFV1aWQiOiIwOGNkM2EyNC0xZTdmLTQ0YzctOTA0NC01Yzg1ZWZiZjExNWMifQ&signature=AQAAAR3x-q4SXXty1pE2vJGcGJPOuCKsQB9mapk_rX_Gex86&gcReferrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FSanDisk-256GB-Ultra-Drive-Type-C%2Fdp%2FB07YYJL21Z%2F” class=”link rapid-with-clickid etailiffa-link” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank” data-ylk=”slk:SanDisk’s drive;elm:affiliate_link;sellerN:amazon;elmt:;cpos:1;pos:1;sec:large-product;subsec:commlist;pkgt:square-editorial;pos:3;cpos:4;itc:0″>SanDisk drive It's available in capacities up to 512GB and supports USB 3.1 for decent read speeds of up to 150MB/s. Are you trying to transfer photos to an old desktop computer that only has USB-A? No problem. How about a tablet that only has a USB-C connector? Easy. It can even help you download media from a phone with OTG support so you can install that big software update (stop procrastinating, please). And with its tiny dimensions, you probably won't even notice it hanging from your keychain, so you can always have it with you.

For people who prefer a lighter, more minimalist way to carry their cards and cash, the $50 bill Wally Manga It is a super compact and affordable option. It's made from full-grain leather and can hold up to seven cards in its RFID-protected main sleeve. On the outside, there's another pocket for cash or transit cards so you can touch them with a sensor without needing to completely remove them from your wallet. But the Wally Sleeve's best feature is its MagLock closure, which prevents cards from spilling out. Combine that with a built-in pull tab and you've got a slim case that provides easy access to everything you need without having to search for anything.
Alternatively, if you are looking for a more traditional wallet, the Division Wallet It's a stylish choice that combines classic design with new-school materials. Pioneer says the polyethylene yarn that makes up its 10XD fabric (available in black, blue, forest, and onyx) is ten times stronger than steel, so it should look great for years. It's also dirt and water resistant and, thanks to a variety of pockets and sleeves, can hold plenty of cards and bills. And for those who want a little more security, the onyx and forest color options also come with RFID shielding.

One thing I never really leave the house without is a portable power bank, because you never know when a day will get longer and you might need to recharge some devices. While you can certainly opt for a standard power bank with a USB-C port, Anker's MagGo series has introduced an interesting twist to the category thanks to the addition of Qi 2 that supports magnetic wireless charging up to 15 watts. And when you combine that with a built-in kickstand, you get something more like a portable charging dock than a basic battery pack. This allows you to hold your phone to watch videos while charging the battery; If you want faster speeds, you can always plug in a cable.

I don't know what it is, but I like bags. And of all the ones I have, the Peak Design 35 liter travel bag It's probably the most used because it can do it all. It's perfect for a weekend trip, but I've always also used it for shopping. More recently, it has become a baby bag to carry everything I need to have on hand for a fussy toddler. Not only is it durable thanks to its weather-resistant 600D nylon canvas cover, but it also has removable handles and tons of eyelets spread throughout the bag so you can rearrange the straps however you want. It can be configured as a backpack if you wish. Or if you're carrying some gear, you can keep three of the Peak Design packing cubes in there (or four cubes in the 65L duffel bag) so all your photography gear is nice and protected. It's truly a bag that does it all.

And with a battery that lasts about 30 hours (with ANC on), I usually only have to charge them once a week. The only slight annoyance I found is that you can't use them while charging, but since they have the ability to add three hours of power in just 30 minutes, that's not a deal breaker.

Now I must admit that I do not carry the steam cover literally every day. It's a little too big for that. But you better believe that on trips or even long trips, this is in my bag. That's because of all the gaming laptops I've tested, the Steam Deck offers the best combination of ease of use, performance, and battery life. And then last year, Valve basically perfected the original model by updating it with a new OLED display, a more efficient chip, and a few other tweaks. Its integrated touchpads also make it much easier to play games originally designed for mouse and keyboard. Additionally, the Steam Deck is one of the few portable devices that comes with a carrying case included, which is a must-have for any type of frequent travel. But the best part is that starting at $549, it's less expensive than rivals like the ASUS ROG Ally (at least the one with the top-tier Z1 Extreme chip) and the Lenovo Legion Go as well.
Now I admit that I don't use this every day, but when it comes time to touch up or repair some electronics, this set It's the first thing I grab. The included carrying case contains 25 steel bits that work with the most common screw heads (Torx, pentalobe, tri-wing and more), while the magnetic drill chuck makes changing bits easy. You also get one-touch controls for automatic screwing and unscrewing, while still having the flexibility to turn things manually in more delicate situations. Finally, thanks to its built-in USB-C port, you'll never have to worry about finding a pesky proprietary charging brick.
