A screenshot that appears to suggest billionaire Elon Musk is disguised as superfan “Adrian Dittmann” (showing permissions for account x beyond those of a regular user) is almost certainly fake, says an x source. The edge.
The source, who claims to have no knowledge of Dittmann's identity, says that an image posted on 4chan's /pol/ forum does not reflect an actual interface available to people working for x. The screenshot was posted by a user who identifies himself as Adrian Dittmann. showing a post from Musk's x page. In fact, x employees would see the same interface as other users, with the possible exception of new features that are currently being tested for widespread release.
This suggests that other elements of the screenshot, such as an analysis link that only appears for the author of a post, were also deliberate fabrications, planted as hints that Musk is secretly Dittmann. The clues were picked up overnight, where they spread on social media along with other posts made by the 4chan user, mostly praising Musk and defending his x policies amid infighting with other conservatives over the immigration.
It is unclear who posted the screenshots. “Adrian Dittmann” is a long-time x user, and his Musk fanaticism and vocal similarities have led to rumors that he is secretly none other than Musk himself. (Musk has <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-confirms-secret-twitter-account-x-child-2024-4″>he cosplayed his son on the sitethen it is not that a crazy statement.) User Magazines Taylor Lorenz has noted that Dittmann benefits greatly from the speculation that they are Musk, and it's possible that the doctored screenshots are Dittmann leaning towards that. However, the 4chan posts could also be from an unrelated copycat, highlighting Musk's idea as a desperate poster on the forum. (I guess we can't rule out that Musk, posing as Dittmann, added fake elements to a real screenshot of his x account. But I'm ranking that theory low on the list.)
