Courtesy of iFixit, a new teardown video of the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold reveals what Shahram Mokhtari of the repairability advocacy organization says is “the most exciting foldable we've seen on iFixit's teardown table.”
iFixit offers very clear shots of the phone's interior in the video and its Attached blog postalong with some very detailed Lumafield CT scans of the foldable device. Mokhtari notes in the video that Google offers repair guides and spare parts for the phone.
iFixit found impressive modularity on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, including easily removable wearable parts like the USB-C port and SIM card tray, and the site praised the use of 3IP screws throughout the device. Repair experts were also able to remove the outer display and back cover using just pry tools — no heat gun required.
The only criticism iFixit has is that the 4.68Wh and 13.4Wh batteries were impossible to remove using the tabs underneath them. Mokhtari also noted that he couldn't remove the foldable display without destroying it.
