When Stellantis showed off last January, the automaker said the concept would serve as a design template for Ram’s first electric pickup truck. Now, more than a month later, Stellantis has shared a first look at the 2024 Ram 1500 REV—and wouldn’t you know it, the pre-production model looks more like its gas-guzzling predecessors than the futuristic concept we saw in .
To begin with, the 2024 model does not retain the “brutal” style of the prototype. As Ford did with him, Stellantis has played it safe. The Ram 1500 REV has more modern-looking headlights and taillights, but that’s all that makes it look different from almost every other Ram in production right now. The interior of the vehicle is also more conservative. It does not have that futuristic touch that was present with the Revolution. Judging by the images Stellantis shared, the production variant also won’t ship with many of the more quirky features the automaker managed to find room for on the Ram 1500 REV concept. The new vehicle does come with a frunk though, so at least that’s there.
You can reserve a pre-order spot for the 2024 Ram 1500 REV by making a $100 deposit through the . With deliveries not scheduled to begin until late next year, there’s plenty of time to wait for Stellantis to share more information before making a decision on the EV. Meanwhile, the Super Bowl ad that the company plans to air later today to promote the Ram 1500 REV is pretty fun and worth watching, even if you have no interest in buying a full-size electric pickup.
