Apple is adding a new feature to Safari called Distraction Control that lets you remove distracting elements, such as cookie preference pop-ups, while you browse. MacRumors reportsThe new feature is available with the fifth developer betas of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia that were released on Monday.
You can get an idea of how Distraction Control works thanks to A video of MacRumorsFrom a menu, you can choose the “Hide distracting elements” option and then select the elements you want to hide from the page you're viewing. When elements are hidden, they disappear with a very elegant animation.
In a pop-up shown in the video, Apple notes that “hiding distracting elements won’t permanently remove ads and other frequently updated content,” so you won’t be able to use this feature to hide all the ads you see forever. Parts of a website you hide also don’t sync across all your devices. MacRumors says.
