The Reddit CEO, Steve Huffman, said that, during this year, Reddit plans to launch an improved search experience that will help users to navigate the social network, but also answer “subjective, tough (y) interesting questions.”
The company plans to achieve this by integrating Reddit's responses, its characteristic that allows visitors to ask questions and receive cured summaries of relevant answers and threads of its entire platform, in the existing search for Reddit.
“(In Reddit's conversations), for 20 years, our users have left this corpus of absolutely massive information, so we are beginning to unlock that with answers,” Huffman said during the earning call of the fourth quarter of Reddit 2024 Wednesday. “We will continue to this product.”
The CFO of Reddit, Drew Vollero, added during the call that Reddit is recruiting engineers to build a “small search equipment” focused on these capabilities.
Reddit is increasingly hugging ai as it seeks to grow. Last year, the platform led the translation to dozens of new territories, with more planned for this year, and implemented ideas for brands. Reddit also began testing the search results pages with ai, which summarizes and recommends content in different Reddit communities.
Investors were disappointed with the fourth quarter of Reddit's fiscal metrics, which were impacted in part by the changes in the Google search algorithm. The only daily active users in Reddit increased 39% year after year to 101.7 million users, the estimates of the missing investors of 103.1 million of unique.
Huffman insinuated that Reddit looks for a part of the process of incorporating the platform to boost growth, retention and, ultimately, income.
“I think that helping the user to be able to look directly in Reddit, refine their Reddit consultations, eventually Reddit for such consultations and even integrate the search for something like the incorporation over time, I think (these are) really) Interesting things, “he said.
