There are tons of headphone options out there, from high-end ones that are packed with features and offer stellar sound. But for those looking for a solid pair of headphones that perform well without spending a fortune, there are plenty of options in that space, too.
Our pick for the Anker Soundcore Space A40. You're in luck, because that model has dropped in price again. amazon;elmt:;cpos:2;pos:1″ href=”https://shopping.yahoo.com/rdlw?merchantId=66ea567a-c987-4c2e-a2ff-02904efde6ea&siteId=us-engadget&pageId=1p-autolink&featureId=text-link&merchantName=amazon&custData=eyJzb3VyY2VOYW1lIjoiV2ViLURlc2t0b3AtVmVyaXpvbiIsImxhbmRpbmdVcmwiOiJodHRwczovL3d3dy5hbWF6b24uY29tL1NvdW5kY29yZS1BdXRvLUFkanVzdGFibGUtQ2FuY2VsbGluZy1XaXJlbGVzcy1IZWFkcGhvbmUvZHAvQjBCMUxWQzVWWj90YWc9Z2RndDBjLTIwIiwiY29udGVudFV1aWQiOiJhZjM4ODE1NC0zNDg5LTQ5ZjgtYTQ4My0xODA2YTYwZGE0YjMiLCJvcmlnaW5hbFVybCI6Imh0dHBzOi8vd3d3LmFtYXpvbi5jb20vU291bmRjb3JlLUF1dG8tQWRqdXN0YWJsZS1DYW5jZWxsaW5nLVdpcmVsZXNzLUhlYWRwaG9uZS9kcC9CMEIxTFZDNVZaIiwiZHluYW1pY0NlbnRyYWxUcmFja2luZ0lkIjp0cnVlLCJzaXRlSWQiOiJ1cy1lbmdhZGdldCIsInBhZ2VJZCI6IjFwLWF1dG9saW5rIiwiZmVhdHVyZUlkIjoidGV4dC1saW5rIn0&signature=AQAAAZD1gK8kF4gKnn7nHTKUyam6Ke1VBDKtHzpNUBH9zPMz&gcReferrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FSoundcore-Auto-Adjustable-Cancelling-Wireless-Headphone%2Fdp%2FB0B1LVC5VZ” class=”link rapid-with-clickid etailiffa-link” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank” data-ylk=”slk:record low price of $49;elm:affiliate_link;sellerN:amazon;elmt:;cpos:2;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas”>It usually sells for $80, so that's a $31 discount. Considering we felt the Space A40 already offered great value at its full retail price, this is a good deal.

The lightweight earbuds are comfortable to wear for extended listening sessions. Battery life is rated at 10 hours, and the charging case adds an additional 40 hours of listening time. Anker says 10 minutes of quick charging will add four hours of listening time.
As you might expect from lower-priced earbuds, there isn’t as much detail in the sound profile as on higher-end models, though they do offer warm tones and decent bass performance. EQ settings can be adjusted in the Soundcore app, as can touch controls.
The Space A40 earbuds have an IPX4 water resistance rating, so they should withstand daily sweat and light rain without any major issues. You can use each earbud independently and connect them to two devices simultaneously.
What really makes the Space A40 stand out compared to rival models is the active noise cancellation (ANC), which works very well for headphones in this price range. The adaptive ANC technology adjusts the intensity of the noise cancellation depending on the environment. However, higher pitched sounds won’t be blocked out completely. You also have the option to adjust the ANC levels manually. The transparency mode isn’t too shabby either.
On the downside, the microphone quality isn't fantastic, so people on the other end of a phone call may not hear you very clearly. There's also no automatic pause when you take an earbud off. Those are just minor nitpicks considering how well the Space A40 headphones perform in other respects, though.
