Meta will now allow you to create massive community chats in Messenger with people you are not connected to in any way. In 2022, the company launched community chats for facebook groups, giving people who belong to the same groups an easy way to talk in real time. While that community feature is linked to groups on the social network, this one is not: it will allow you to use Messenger like Discord to connect with up to 5,000 random people who use the app.
The company did not publish any announcement, but confirmed the launch of the new feature. TechCrunch. All community chats will be displayed in one place within the Messenger app, and each will have a “Home” space where administrators can post updates and announcements. If you create a community, you will have the power to remove someone from the chat, report or remove content, and delete the chat entirely. However, all members can send sharing invitations, so communities have the potential to grow beyond the initial circle of participants. However, the fact that these types of facebook chats are intended for public conversations also means that you would have to be more careful about what you share. Not only will current members be able to see what you've said, but so will future members that other people invite.
As TechCrunch notes, you could use the new option to host chats for schools, organizations, neighborhoods, and other groups with a large number of potential members. It could also be a better and more convenient option than WhatsApp's similar community chats feature, since the app must be connected to a phone number.
