Microsoft confirms today that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the next installment of the popular franchise, will be available on day one on Xbox Game Pass. After premature notification today, an official Xbox Wire Blog Post has now revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on Microsoft's gaming subscription service later this year.
“We are excited to confirm that Game Pass members will be able to access Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 from day one with Game Pass,” says Megan Spurr, senior community leader for Xbox Game Pass.
Confirmation of a Game Pass launch for the next Obligations Delivery comes after questions about ObligationsXbox Game Pass availability. I reported earlier this month that Microsoft had been debating whether to put new versions of Obligations in Game Pass, with concerns from some at the company that the revenue generated by the typical Obligations Sales would be undermined by Game Pass. Activision traditionally sells more than 20 million copies of Obligations on average, about $70 each.
It's still unclear if Microsoft plans to increase prices for its Game Pass Ultimate subscription and the company has not announced a release date for call of Duty Black Ops 6, so there are still many months until its eventual release on Game Pass. I understand that Activision is currently targeting a late October release for Black ops 6which takes place during the Gulf War of the 90s.
Microsoft plans to provide more details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 during a special stream after Xbox's summer flagship showcase on June 9. The main Xbox showcase will have a new Gears of war announcement, along with the following Condemn game. The showcase will also include a number of release dates for upcoming Xbox games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Declaredand Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
