Meta is restricting links on Threads, instagram and facebook that lead to Ken Klippenstein bulletin containing a file on JD Vance who was allegedly caught in an Iranian hack of the Trump campaign. The company apparently removed posts containing the link and is apparently blocking links to PDF files of the dossier hosted elsewhere.
Meta spokesperson Dave Arnold emailed Meta's statement to The edge:
“Our policies do not allow content from pirated sources or content leaked as part of a foreign government operation to influence US elections. We will block such materials from being shared on our apps in accordance with our Community Standards.”
a goal privacy violations page prohibits users from sharing details “obtained from hacked sources” as well as “material purporting to reveal non-public information relevant to an election shared as part of a foreign government influence operation.”
People at Threads have reported that goal remote your posts containing the link. Meta also appears to be disabling links to the document hosted elsewhere, such as the following post with a Scribd link, or other which aims to link to the PDF in a Google Drive.
x has also been blocking links to the story and other social media users. x.com/AricToler/status/1839793187239452721?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1839793187239452721%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=about%3Asrcdoc”>reported not being able to share the document through your Google Drive accounts (although I was able to share it, at least between two of my personal accounts). Neither company responded to our requests for comment by press time. We also asked Box, Apple, Dropbox and Microsoft if they are restricting the document, but none responded before publishing this story.
