Indiegogo just introduced a Shipping Guarantee Program to assure buyers that they will receive their products. Previously, there was no guarantee that you would receive the product you backed, but now things are changing. The program will be open to companies that have a trusted track record on the crowdfunding platform. Having a history of successful campaigns will help increase the chances of being approved for the program. The program is a step up from the “Trust-Proven” badge from two years ago, which indicates consistent compliance, positive ratings from backers, and proof of exemplary campaign management.
According to the Indiegogo Shipping Guarantee Program FAQ PageTo qualify, a campaign must be vetted by the platform's Trust & Safety team. All products must also be in the “final stages of manufacturing.”
The first campaign under this program is the HoverAIR X1 PRO and X1 PRO MAX flying action camerasAs seen on the campaign’s product page, there is a “Shipping Guarantee” badge. Backers of the project will get their money back if the drones are not shipped by October 31, 2024.
Please note that backers must complete surveys submitted by campaign owners to qualify for the protection program. So don't complain if you simply forgot to fill out your shipping information – you'll be on your own unless customer support helps you out.
Years ago, I backed the Status Audio Between Pro headphones, and while they arrived without issue, the numerous stories of failed campaigns over the years have kept me (and I'm sure other potential buyers) on their toes. Since Indiegogo only ensures that reputable companies have access to the guaranteed shipping program, backers can rest easier knowing that a company doesn't meet its shipping goals.
