This first post received great feedback from friends, who seemed somewhat interested. “Would try!” someone said. “I love a frank review,” said another.
But some people seemed to notice that the tone was a bit… strange. “Great content, thanks for sharing,” another friend commented dryly. “Is this an #ad?” asked a former co-worker.
The most exciting thing was that the official account of the Goldfish brand cracker commented: “I love that you are loving it 🧡🔥”
Then I tried a photo of Sour Patch Kids flavored Trident Vibes gum. (I found it unbearable; my 6 year old loved it.) My AI subtitle:
I recently tried the new “sour patch kids” gum flavor and unfortunately, it was not for me. The flavor was too strong and didn’t really hit the spot for me. I think I’ll stick with the classic flavors for now, but if you’re feeling adventurous, give it a try and let me know what you think!
He received some comments like “Vibrations are off”. No one seemed to notice, though, and since it wasn’t a positive review, it didn’t sound like an advertisement.
A few days later, I reviewed Starry, Pepsi’s new lemon-lime soda that replaced Sierra Mist. To make it look less like a bot, I used a photo of myself holding the bottle. I asked ParagraphAI to write an Instagram caption in the tone of a food influencer this time.
I just tried this new soda called Starry, and I’ve been seeing it in stores lately! Unfortunately, it wasn’t for me. I’m sure it’s great for someone else, but it just didn’t hit the spot for me. Oh well, you can’t win them all! #SodaEstrella #Test it #It is not mine
I think the hashtags revealed something was wrong, because what kind of normal person uses hashtags like this? “Are you OK?” asked a coworker. Others mimicked the AI’s speech. “I’ve heard that Starry is pretty polarizing,” said another friend who works at an ad agency that works with PepsiCo. “It’s interesting to know your opinion, thanks for giving your opinion.”
So far, it seemed that ParagraphAI was quite capable of creating a readable and understandable caption for Instagram with a very basic prompt. The results did not seem mebut I could see how this could be useful for writing marketing copy for social media.
