Humble Games has reportedly laid off all 36 of its employees. Former employees aware about the social media layoffs. Humble Games is owned by media conglomerate Ziff Davis, which has a following of 100,000. IGNITION, Eurogamer and Gaming Industry.biz among its portfolio of games. Humble Games confirmed in a LinkedIn profile mail that there had been a “restructuring” at the company, but did not disclose the number of jobs lost.
A Humble Games PR representative also confirmed to Engadget that the company will not be closing its doors as a result of today's restructuring, adding that both current and future projects will continue to receive support and publishing from the studio.
The layoffs at Humble Bundle are the latest in a wave of job cuts across the gaming industry. Last year saw a shocking number of job cuts at studios of all sizes, and the trend has sadly continued into 2024.
“The gaming industry is volatile, it's been flooded by people who just want exponential growth at the expense of making great games with great teams,” Emilee Kieffer, a former principal quality assurance analyst at Humble Games, wrote on LinkedIn after the layoffs.

The independent publisher helped bring nearly 50 video games to market, including notable hits like Kill the needle, Unpacking, Wandering song and Coral IslandHumble Games also had several upcoming games, such as Never alone 2a second immersion in the mythology and stories of the indigenous Iñupiat people of Alaska.
“This decision was not made lightly; it involved a lot of deliberation and careful thought, with the goal of ensuring stability and support for our developers and ongoing projects,” Humble's statement said.
This company is a separate operation from the Humble Bundle charity shop, which is also part of Ziff Davis, but does not appear to be affected by today's news. We have reached out to Ziff Davis and Humble Games for more information and will update if we hear back.
