If you have a Galaxy smartphone and you haven’t discovered it yet Samsung Good Lock app, I recommend installing it as soon as possible. It’s packed with tweaks, tools, and options that build on what Samsung already includes in its One UI version of Android.
Good Lock allows you to have much more control over the appearance of your phone’s interface and helps you do more with your phone. Whether you want to design your own clock face for your lock screen, switch between apps more quickly, or change the behavior of the S Pen stylus, Good Lock can help.
Starting
To get started, open Galaxy Store on your Samsung phone, then search and install the Good lock app.
The application works through mini applications called modules. When you have installed these modules through Good Lock, some of them will appear as normal apps on your phone in your regular app drawer, while others will need to be accessed through Good Lock; will appear at the top of it. screen you use to install the modules.
When you open Good Lock, you’ll see two tabs at the bottom of the screen: Make upwhere you will find customization modules, and life up, where you look for modules that cover internal settings. Scroll down to see what’s available.
There are too many modules to cover them all here, but I’ve selected a few of my favorites to get you up and running and give you a good idea of what Good Lock is capable of. (I tested them on a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 running Android 13 and One UI 5.1.1.)
Edit Quick Panel with QuickStar
QuickStar lets you customize the Quick Panel – that’s the gallery of options that appears when you drag down from the top of the screen, covering the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth switches, flashlight, etc. You can find it in the Make up eyelash.
Once you have installed it, it will appear at the top of the list of Good Lock modules. Tap the entry and enable the switch at the top of the screen to bring up the customization options.
You can now adapt the Quick Panel to your own tastes.
- Design your own Quick Panel allows you to switch between color themes.
- Visibility of indicator icons allows you to show or hide items in the status bar right at the top of the screen (including the Wi-Fi and airplane mode icons).
- Wear Clock settings to customize the clock that appears when the Quick Panel is displayed.
There are several other options available. I found the Quick setup instant access toggle the switch to make it useful: activate it and the entire selection of Quick Panel settings will appear immediately. (Typically, swiping reveals a few toggle switches, and you need to swipe another down to reveal the rest.)
Customize the clock with ClockFace
ClockFace, located below Make up tab, gives you access to a host of clock customizations for the lock screen and always-on display (if your Galaxy phone supports one). If you find the built-in options too boring and uninteresting, you can get really creative with your own designs.
Launch the module and choose between Always on display and Lock screen for which watch you want to edit. You’ll then be faced with dozens of different clocks to choose from – select any of them and you can tap the checkmark icon to apply it or the pencil icon to edit it. If you don’t see anything you like right away, tap My watch and Create new build something from scratch.
Whether you’re creating a new watch face or editing an existing one, you have plenty of tools at your disposal here. You can choose from font sizes, clock hand styles, 12 or 24 hour formats, different color combinations and layouts. You can touch and hold individual elements to reposition them, and you can import new elements, including GIFs and stickers, using the icons on the right.
Modify S Pen settings with Pentastic
If you have a Galaxy phone that supports the S Pen stylus, go to the Make up tab to find Pentastic. It allows you to change how S Pen interactions look on the screen and even how the pen works, making it an even bigger boost to productivity.
The first option you’ll see on the screen when you open Pentastic allows you to change the size and style of the menu that appears when the S Pen is active, so instead of the standard list, you can have a more compact line or circle. You can also change the pointer icon from the conventional circle to an arrow, a heart, or even an animal emoji.
Select Double tap shortcut to edit what a double tap of the S Pen does. All of your phone’s apps and all of the S Pen’s potential features (from creating notes to magnifying the screen) are available here, so if there’s an app that you need regular access to, you might want to add it here.
Apply new themes with Theme Park
The Android software that comes with your Galaxy phone allows you to customize the default interface in several ways, but the Theme Park module in the Make up The tab takes everything to the next level: covering wallpapers, color schemes, icon styles, and more.
When you open Theme Park for the first time, you will be asked for storage permission so that Theme Park can use the colors from your image files. Tap Begin and Allow either do not allow.
Once this is done, select Create newand you’ll be asked to choose a wallpaper image and then a color scheme to go with it. You can choose from your own photo gallery (assuming you’ve given permission to do so) or select from a range of free and paid images.
You’ll see previews of what the theme will look like along the way, and you can apply the theme by tapping the install icon in the top right corner (it looks like a downward arrow going to a tray).
The other tabs of the module allow you to customize the keyboard, Quick Panel, volume slider, and icons used by the theme. About him Icon tab, for example, you can change the colors, size and shape of its icons. You can also touch icon pack to download Samsung and third-party theme icon packs.
Renew your home screens with Home Up
You can also customize the home screens through Home above on the Make up eyelash. Once you’ve configured these settings the way you want, you can save them as a profile that you can return to later.
Once you have gone to the home page and turned on Home on top, tap Starting screen to find most of the modifications you can make. Here, you can change the grid spacing of the icons on your home screens and app drawer, make your home screens work as a loop (in other words, you can slide from the last page to the first page and vice versa) and you can hide the labels that appear next to app icons.
Choose Home Up’s Task changer instead of modifying the appearance of the screen that appears when you switch between applications. Recent apps can be stacked, displayed in a grid or carousel, and you can show or hide elements like the search bar and recommended apps list.
Improve multitasking with MultiStar
MultiStar, in the life up tab, is a useful improvement to the multitasking functionality already built into Android and Samsung’s One UI. It’s particularly useful if you’re using a foldable phone like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 because it can manage exactly how apps are displayed on the two screens you have.
For example, on the Z Fold 5, you can choose to make the under-screen camera more visible, have apps always go to full screen mode when you unfold the device, and have apps automatically adjust as you moves between portrait and landscape modes. . Simply touch the I Love Galaxy Foldable link in the downloaded module to find these settings and more.
Elsewhere in the module, you’ll find some switches that make it easy to jump between apps. Multi Window Quick StartFor example, it allows you to launch the multitasking interface by pressing and holding the Recents button, while Multiple focus Set apps to always run as if they were the app currently being viewed.
Don’t miss anything with Nice Catch
Another useful utility is Nice Catch, from life up tab, which is where you can go if you think you missed a notification on your phone or don’t remember an alert you only looked at. It is also useful for troubleshooting problems on your phone.
Open the module and activate it, and you’ll see a long list of phone events you can record, from vibrate alerts and displayed announcements to times when the volume was muted. There is even the option to record every time a change is made to the phone settings.
Tap the switches to turn each event category on and off. You can then tap the category name and view your history so you can retrace your steps. You’ll never miss a pop-up message or call notification again.
