School Time allows parents to limit the features of their child’s devices during predetermined times, such as class time or any period when an adult wants to limit screen time. Parents will be able to use the Family Link parental control app to set up School Time schedules on their child’s Android phones, tablets, and select Samsung Galaxy watches. However, Google hasn’t shared any further details about which devices in those categories will receive this update. The feature originally launched on Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatches. .
School Schedule is designed to help limit distractions from a mobile device for a young user. When enabled, it sets a dedicated home page with limited notifications. Parents can select which apps remain available and can allow texts and calls from specific people. This encourages focus when needed, while also allowing for emergency contact if necessary.
Family Link, Google’s portal for parents to manage their children’s mobile activity, got one in 2022. And if you’re looking for similar features in Apple’s ecosystem, check out the feature.
