Through the partnership, Connections Academy will introduce students to immersive HOSA experiences that will enhance their explorations of hundreds of healthcare occupations.
Students will gain hands-on experience in the healthcare industry, learn about growing opportunities in healthcare careers, and meet like-minded students from around the world. HOSA students develop the skills prioritized by employers, according to Pearson Skills Outlookin leadership, communication and teamwork, as well as technical skills related to specific health careers.
Their experience builds self-confidence, motivation, and enthusiasm for their future in healthcare through the development of a professional network of university and industry partners, HOSA alumni and peers, and through participation in community service and the organization's nearly 100 annual healthcare-related competitive events. at the local, state and international level.
Early exposure as well as developing lasting skills and industry connections are critical for high school students interested in healthcare occupations, which are growing at 13%, until 2031, much faster than the average for all other occupations. Participation in HOSA provides an advantage for students to be prepared for the 1.8 million vacancies projected each year, on average, in these occupations due to job growth and the need to replace workers who leave health care permanently, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
