IRVINE, Calif. — MIND Education, a leader in neuroscience-driven math education solutions, has released transformative updates to ST Maths Student and Teacher Experience. The revolutionary curriculum features all-new games, an engaging island-themed student journey, an enhanced teacher dashboard, improved puzzle chats to foster mathematical discourse, and comprehensive teacher workshops and professional learning.
With more than 25 years of experience neuroscience research, The MIND approach ST Math emphasizes hands-on learning, an approach that has been shown to foster critical thinking and creativity, and ensure deep conceptual understanding. These enhancements ensure learning experiences that are engaging and effective in generating positive outcomes.
“The new enhancements to ST Math will accelerate math learning and conceptual understanding in less time,” said Jason Mendenhall, Chief Product Officer at MIND Education. “Students will make noticeable progress with less ‘wasteful effort,’ resulting in significantly improved math learning outcomes. Games that actively engage students help them avoid the passive learning trap of simply searching for the right answers, and instead give them the skills they need to tackle real-world problems.”
The 34 new games for grades 3-5 offer:
- Learning on low floors and high ceilings to meet each student where they are;
- Immediate formative feedback;
- Interactive and revealing virtual manipulators;
- Visual reasoning challenges you to develop strong problem solvers;
- Exercises that facilitate conceptual understanding and the construction of meaning; and
- Tools to motivate students to face challenges, develop perseverance, and increase their self-confidence as “math people.”
ST Maths New island-themed user experience is designed to empower, engage and inspire students to embark on their learning journey and make their math goals a reality. Using a map, students can visually track their progress, celebrate achievements and stay motivated by seeing their milestones come to life along an interactive path.
The updated, easy-to-use Teacher Dashboard allows educators to stay connected to student progress by providing quick access to a streamlined reporting system and easy access to student data. With expanded performance metrics, the advanced dashboard offers more detailed insights to tailor instruction to individual student needs.
ST Math Puzzle Chats have been redesigned to better fit into busy schedules, to be easier for teachers to find and use within the ST Math platform, and to be more accessible to all users. Like Numbers or Math Chats, Puzzle Chats are designed to encourage students to communicate and deepen their mathematical understanding. They can be used to:
- Take advantage of ST Math's visual puzzles;
- Launch or review a topic;
- Offer intentional sequences of 3 to 6 puzzles;
- Cover major grade level topics and focus areas; and
- Engage students in meaningful mathematical discourse.
New professional learning packages for educators seamlessly integrate ST Math into educators’ core instruction. The Curriculum Integration package includes dynamic, collaborative sessions to empower curriculum writers, allowing them to easily integrate ST Math into their district’s core curriculum. The Math Discourse with Puzzle Talks package invites educators to participate in a multi-session workshop using a modeling package designed to empower educators in facilitating rich math discourse.
Newly updated workshops will enable educators to maximize the instructional power of ST Math. The Facilitation of Mathematical Discourse with Puzzle Talks workshop focuses on engaging students in meaningful mathematical discourse and problem solving using ST Math’s completely redesigned Puzzle Talks. The Curriculum Integration and Guiding Standards workshop allows educators to explore and experience the flexibility of ST Math within their core mathematics program, while also developing a deep understanding of how to address specific standards.
