I believe the low supply of STEM professionals can be attributed to significant barriers to entry that originate in educational settings; This is not the fault of teachers and administrators, but rather how the education system is structured.
The benefits of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education are numerous, and you would be hard-pressed to find a school district that doesn’t have a project, initiative, class, or lesson with the acronym in its title.
Before the pandemic, reading achievement had shown little to no growth. Scores have continued to decline, in part due to pandemic-related learning disruptions.
