BOSTON — Adaptive learning company HMH Today announced the launch of Coach HMH, an innovative service that provides educators with unlimited access to dedicated instructional coaches. As new school years begin across the country, Coach is designed to change the way educators engage and benefit from professional learning with personalized, on-demand support from a highly trained coach. Coaches offer strategies to teachers at all stages of their professional and implementation journey, ensuring their success every step of the way.
With a Coach subscription, teachers on the HMH connected learning platform, EdTeachers have unlimited access to a certified, expert instructional coach who brings relevant subject area and classroom expertise. Teachers work with the same coach throughout the year, strengthening their relationship through self-scheduled coaching sessions and direct messages accessed through their teaching platform for the real-time, dedicated support they need, when they need it. This helps districts develop a unified teaching culture based on research-based best practices with program implementation support and year-round teaching strategies tailored to each educator's needs. Flexibility with Coach It also extends to optional in-person training days with instructional coaches who work with educators both individually and as a team.
“To create growth for every student, we must first set each educator up for success,” said Amy Dunkin, General Manager of Services at HMH. “For years, coaching was seen as necessary to learn new skills, often with long instructional days a few times a year. Coaching has always been an integral part of effective teaching, and we know that personalized support is crucial.” Coach“Districts now have the resources to apply best-in-class coaching methods and provide each teacher with year-round support from a coach who knows them as they face challenges and celebrate successes together. This allows us to be true partners with each educator and, in turn, elevate the potential of each student.”
The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System in Georgia recently invested in Coach to provide customized training to every ELA teacher across its 54 schools during this back-to-school season. This decision was made in conjunction with HMH’s adoption of ELA aimed at unifying teaching and learning across the district.
Andrea Burkiett, director of elementary studies at Savannah-Chatham, emphasized the importance of equipping educators with consistent and reliable professional learning and resources:
“We have made a significant investment to ensure that all teachers receive high-quality resources and equal access to support, with systems and structures that empower them to succeed. Our goal is to improve literacy outcomes across the board and Coach “It offers the kind of personalized, ongoing professional learning that can make a difference in our classrooms.”
Personalized professional coaching is a proven method for building confidence in educators by providing them with a supportive partner who understands their specific needs. CoachCustomized coaching sessions allow teachers to receive targeted support from a carefully selected coach (selected based on factors such as grade, discipline, and area of specialization) in the same place as their curriculum. Each teacher engages with high-impact, research-based teaching strategies, systematically working toward clearly defined goals. This level of support builds a relationship between coach and teacher, addressing specific challenges and ensuring that each teacher can develop their skills and strategies in a way that directly impacts the effectiveness of their classroom.
At the leadership level, administrators can stay informed about their teachers' coaching efforts through Coachly Reports in the Ed Platform. These reports allow leaders to see how teachers use and coach topics, allowing them to better support them as they work toward their professional goals.
