Designed for grades 3-5, tech-A-Sketch combines a classic drawing toy with electronics and coding to teach a variety of STEAM concepts. In this project, students assemble a handheld drawing device, complete with a programmable LCD screen, buttons, and knobs. As students create their digital device and unique artist palette, they explore the science of displays, XY coordinates, tracing basic shapes, brush creation, and more. They can then apply what they learn through a unique, personalized drawing experience.
TinkR's Works | TinkRsynth
TinkRsynth is a project for grades 6-8 that reinforces the fundamentals of coding through music. Students create a sound mixing console to produce, manipulate, and synthesize sounds. To do this, they program the console to combine various electrical waves to create sound for their unique instruments. Throughout the process, they explore the properties and physics of sound waves and can use their instruments to learn about rhythm, chords, and melodies, and to compose music. To demonstrate what they've learned, students can orchestrate a solo performance or form an ensemble with their classmates.
Flight of words | Vocabulary tasks
WordFlight, which assesses and supports basic reading skills for students in grades 2-8, has added new vocabulary tasks. Students can learn about the impact of manipulating morphemes to change the meaning of words while also improving spelling pattern recognition.
