A classroom classic, a Jeopardy-style review game. FigJam is a digital platform that adds additional functionality and collaboration options to the classroom hazard template. Create your Jeopardy games on FigJam.
FigJam Template
FigJam has a built-in template for Jeopardy which you can place in any of your FigJam files using the templates icon at the top left. This icon is a rectangle of rectangles. Look for different templates that can be included in your FigJam file. Search for Jeopardy in the template library.

Template modifications
FigJam has a cool widget that allows you to add flashcards to your FigJam. Very useful for classrooms. The FigJam Jeopardy template takes advantage of this card widget to create a question and answer grid. The problem is that the questions are exposed when we normally hide them behind the $dots.
I added a stack of rectangles to the left of each row with the $dots. After clicking on each card, drag the dots on top of the questions. This will hide the question.
Choose a question
When a question is chosen, drag the $dotted rectangle to the right. There is a section to collect the $point rectangles. An interactive calculator is also added to the template to help score at the end.
Danger as a tutorial
While Jeopardy is typically played as a whole class, this version of FigJam can be played individually or in pairs. To the right of the game board there are 30 additional sections that are hidden. Join all the additional sections to reveal a toolbar with a winking eye. Click on the winking eye to show the sections.
Create tutorials, tips, extra practice, etc. for each of the questions if students have difficulties answering them.
FigJams are multimedia. Paste a link to a YouTube video, digital questionnaire, or support website. An insert card is added to the section. Add text boxes and design interactive support materials.
After you add content to the extra help sections, hide the sections to allow students to see the extra material when they need it.
Help icon
Below each question card is a small help icon that hyperlinks to the additional section. Students click on the help icon to be transported to the appropriate section. Students click on the winking eye to reveal hidden content in the section.
Sharing the FigJam Jeopardy game with students
There are several ways to use Jeopardy Game that will influence how you share FigJam with students. I highly recommend you publish your FigJam. This will help ensure you don’t accidentally “mess up” your original. Click “Share” in the upper right corner and click the “Publish” tab. This will allow you to create a collection of templates that when you click on them, will automatically make a copy. You can see what my published FigJam files look like here:
Danger for the entire class
If you play Jeopardy with the whole class, you don’t need to share FigJam with students. Simply present your computer screen with the FigJam game board filling the screen.
Optionally, click the “Share” button in the top right corner to copy a link to your FigJam that is for viewing only. Share the viewing link with students so they can expand on the questions if they find it difficult to see the screen.
Partner danger
Since the Jeopardy board can be configured with answers and tutorials, students can play with a partner. Post your FigJam and provide the link to students. Have only one member click the posted link to create a copy in their free student account. Have the partner share the copy of FigJam with your partner by adding their email address to the share button.
Duplicate Bar
Another trick for copying FigJam files is to modify the file URL with /duplicate. Look for the question mark in the URL and remove the question mark and everything to its right. Type /duplicate to create a URL that forces a copy.

Partners in a collaborative FigJam
Instead of asking students to make one copy per group, share ONE FigJam with the class. Click on the game board section and copy Control C. Scroll to a blank spot in FigJam and use Control V to paste. You can paste multiple Jeopardy boards within the same FigJam. Share FigJam with the class with editing access. Assign each group a game board within the same FigJam.
