Cecilia Cruse joins the MiEN company as a special needs consultant

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Special education students make up 15% of the K-12 student population, and that number has steadily increased for nearly 40 years. To meet the growing demand for furniture products and services that create fun and functional learning spaces for students with special needs, MiEN Company has hired Cecilia Cruse, OTR/L, as a special needs consultant.

In his new role, Cruse will support MiEN in its work to design products that are flexible and adaptable to a variety of pedagogical, learning and mobility needs. He will also share his knowledge and experience outside the company through professional development programs, conference presentations and other efforts.

Cruse is an experienced occupational therapist and consultant. He has more than 30 years of experience in pediatric therapy in a variety of settings, including K-12 schools, preschool and Head Start programs, critical care, and outpatient pediatrics.

Additionally, Cruse has experience as an author and speaker, and has appeared on Health Watch and CNN's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. She has authored multiple articles for professional magazines and newspapers and has served as a trainer, consultant, and service provider in several school systems. She also speaks nationwide on practical sensory solutions for educators and therapists.

Cruse received a Bachelor of Health Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Florida and a Master's degree in Education from Georgia State University.
