Today, pile of beans announces the addition of Book Talks with Benny, an ai-powered teacher assistant that promotes reading integrity without the need for testing or grading. Book Talks with Benny unlocks valuable information for educators by engaging students in a fun, age-appropriate conversation about the book they are reading when Beanstack detects a potentially dishonest record.
Conversations begin by informing students that their conversation will be shared with an educator and then continue with fun prompts and encouragement. Within Beanstack, administrators can view the chat history of their registered students' flagged log entries, including an analysis of student responses. This information allows educators to evaluate the conversation and make the final decision on how best to ensure accountability in reading.
Felix Lloyd, CEO of Beanstack, shares: “Our engineers designed and trained Benny with extensive input from educators and real-world testing to ensure Book Talks are meaningful, age-appropriate, and safe. We recognize the responsibility of introducing artificial intelligence into our platform. Before beginning any work with ai, we established ethical guidelines to ensure our use is human-centered and transparent.”
Book Talks with Benny is part of Beanstack's Read Integrity Suite and is now available to all schools and districts with Premium Beanstack plans. Schools and districts must choose to use this feature.
