The explosion of artificial technology tools for education is dizzying. Although not all parts of a teacher's job can be outsourced to ai, quiz creation tools can save teachers time while allowing final control of questions and answers to remain in their hands.
To help educators understand the landscape of ai quiz creation, we examined free ai-powered quiz generation platforms, evaluating ease of use, features, the number of free quizzes allowed, and most importantly, the quality of the questions generated. We found a wide range of utilities within the free options, with the best two platforms being clearly superior and worth exploring further.
How we test
The following prompts were used to generate three types of questionnaires. For platforms that do not support each type of questionnaire, we evaluate what is generated based on quality. For this article, only the free version of each platform was evaluated.

Overall ratings were determined based on the quality of quiz questions generated, ease of use, and the number of free quizzes allowed. Questions designed to demonstrate close reading and analysis received higher ratings than obvious factual questions. Representative best and worst questions from the quiz are provided, as well as links to the full quizzes.

The “Not exactly what you were looking for?” that accompanies each test allows teachers to modify tests based on character analysis, symbolism, and historical context. A link at the end of each questionnaire allows users to validate answers with one click through the search engine.
Cons: Only five free actions are allowed per month.

Advantages: Users can edit quizzes, add questions, answers and suggestions for students. The preview feature allows teachers to view tests as students would see them.
Cons: Regardless of the message, only four questions were generated for each questionnaire. There is no export option available. The moderately complex interface is not always intuitive.

Advantages: Super easy to use if you're signed in to your Google account. Export results or share them with a public link. The quizzes are titled and include brief instructions relevant to students. Additional question provided with each quiz. To adjust the results, click “modify this answer”, allowing users to quickly adjust the length, complexity, and pitch.
Cons: None were observed. The clean and intuitive interface is free of distracting elements and allows teachers to focus on creating and sharing content, which is automatically saved in Google Drive for up to 36 months before deleting it.
