When I started teaching there were a few websites where you could find a lesson plan, but they were few and far between. So there were more times than I’d like to admit when I found myself flipping through books, bothering understanding colleagues, or simply staring at the wall in the hope that divine intervention would inspire my next lesson plan. Is that sound familiar to you?
Nowadays, there are many websites where you can find free lesson plans or purchase them. And in the last year many sites have emerged that try to create lesson plans for you. They are all based on the premise of making lesson planning easier and faster.
Automatic classmate is the most recent site I’ve tried for developing lesson plans. In just a couple of minutes it will create the outline of a complete lesson plan for you. All you have to do is provide basic information about your students (grade) and the goal of the lesson. The lesson plan will include recommended activities, time allocations, and assessments. I will never advocate that new teachers not learn to plan lessons from scratch. Likewise, I will never recommend that teachers use lesson plans created by an ai tool like Auto Classmate without reviewing them in detail and modifying them for their classrooms. That being said, I think tools like Auto Classmate will be helpful in starting the process of developing your next great lesson plan.
