The 2024 edition of the Tokyo Game Show took place over the weekend and one of the highlights was a presentation of Death Stranding 2 Kojima Productions studio. And it included some interesting details about the strange sequel, which the developer helpfully broke up into a series of clips rather than a traditional trailer. They feature some of the new characters joining the cast, some dialogue that makes little sense out of context, as well as what looks like a completely ridiculous photo mode to play.
The former includes some returning faces played by Norman Reedus and Léa Leydoux, and also provides a suitable introduction to one of the strangest elements of DS2: a physical medium who has become a puppet, who is obviously known as Dollman:
Next we have two of the characters that director Hideo Kojima has been teasing for some time, with Rainy played by Shioli Kutsuna and Elle Fanning as Tomorrow. (If you have played the original death strandedor really any Kojima game, those names are pretty normal). Includes an unexpected song:
Then there's a short clip of Heartman doing some calculations and also collecting his own tears:
All of that provides a decent idea of the strange world players will explore, even if it's still unclear what Death Stranding 2 It's actually about. But the clip below shows how photo mode works, and honestly, it looks pretty fun, with the ability to take photos with lots of characters doing lots of poses. There's also a stuffed cryptobiote, a small but tasty snack from the original game:
