Police in the UK have A 17-year-old boy was arrested child in connection with last year's cyberattack on MGM Resorts, it was reported by BBC and 404 MediaWith the help of the FBI and the UK's National Crime Agency, West Midlands Police arrested the teenager on Friday on suspicion of breaking UK laws on hacking and blackmail.
West Midlands Police say the suspect has been released on bail while the department investigates. It will also carry out a forensic examination of a “number of digital devices” recovered from the teenager's address in Walsall, England.
“The FBI, in coordination with its partners, will continue to relentlessly pursue malicious actors targeting American businesses, no matter where they are located or how sophisticated their techniques,” Bryan Vorndran, assistant director of the FBI’s Cyber Division, said in a press release.
A report by Reuters Last year, the FBI said it was aware of the casino hackers six months before the breach and that the agency “struggled” to stop them despite knowing the identities of “at least a dozen members.”
