It seems like the most recent change could be strategic. Variety adds that Warner Bros. was quick to fill that October 2, 2026 slot with an unnamed film starring Tom Cruise and directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
While that sucks for Bat fans, one good consolation is the news that Bong Joon-Ho Mickey 17 will arrive even sooner than expected; It is now scheduled for March 7, 2025, after its own delays caused the original 2024 release to be pushed back. Mickey 17 stars Robert Pattinson (who also plays Bruce Wayne in Batman part II) and is directly inspired by the <a target="_blank" href="https://www.amazon.com/Mickey7-Novel-Edward-Ashton/dp/1250275032?tag=theverge02-20″>edward ashton novel mickey7which follows a willingly and literally disposable employee through his many doors of death. Also starring in the film are Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo and Thomas Turgoose. Warner Bros. would have changed its release date with that of Ryan Coogler sinnerswhich now opens on April 18, to give Mickey 17 more time on Imax screens.
