Demonstrating that no IP really is safe from the culture of modern restart, Atari's Escape It is back. The next version of the simple brick blow of 1976 revolves the playing field in 90 degrees and adds automatic displacement, neon effects, local enhancers and cooperatives. In other words, Rupture beyond It is the Tetris effect Formula applied to the Arcade Led Zeppelin-Era Classic.
The original Escape It was a dramatically more limited hardware product of the 70s, but its simplicity was part of its magic. Brick ranks sat up, a palette controlled by the player lived down and a “ball” (actually a square, thanks to the graphics of the 70s) bounced in the middle. Move the palette, hits the ball, crushes the bricks, Wow Wow Bellbottom-Wearing Arcade Agaers.
The central formula, moving a palette to bounce projectiles against bricks, remains intact in Rupture beyond. But the perspective of the landscape of the game, although more suitable for today's televisions and monitors, can be difficult to get used to old school players. The same goes for automatic displacement, since this version moves from left to right to a goal instead of simply requireing that you break all bricks on a fixed screen.
Visually, the new version's ball is more like a kite, with a long neon tail behind its round head. Inductor effects of seizures abound. And there are multiple balls to deal with, not just one. (However, Super BreakoutThe direct sequel to the original game, had two modes with additional balls).
As Tetris effect, Rupture beyond Present combos, rewarding it with intensified visual and sound effects to join broken brick currents. You can also break special blocks that unlock potentiating: bombs that eliminate everything, from an established radius, a field of strength to protect the ball and a laser cannon that allows you to expel bricks outside your path, to the Space invaders.
The game admits the local two players cooperative so you can crush bricks with a friend of the couch. It has 72 levels and an optional approach mode that slows the inactivity time (at higher scores).
Rupture beyond “Later this year” will arrive later “for PC, Switch, Xbox Series x/S and Xbox One, PlayStation 5/4 and the VCs Restart of Atari console. There is still no price information. You can see it on the trailer below and get more information about Atari Product Page.
