Apple MacBook Air M3 It combines Apple’s thinnest and lightest laptop design with the impressive power of Apple’s third-generation silicon. B&H Photo Video has the 2024 laptop on sale for $200 off. Normally $1,299, the variant with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is just $1,099.
The 2024 MacBook Air features the M3 chip, Apple’s silicon on a 3nm process that crams more electronics into a smaller space compared to its predecessor. Apple’s Neural Engine, which will become more crucial with the introduction of Apple Intelligence ai features this fall, is also 15 percent faster on the M3 family than on the M2. While the M3 MacBook Air may not provide a dramatic speed boost over the M2 on day-to-day tasks, it has a higher ceiling for intensive work and is more future-proofed.
The M3 adds dual-screen support with the lid closed. It also supports the faster speeds and lower latency of Wi-Fi 6E if you have a compatible router.
Engadget senior editor Devindra Hardawar praised the device in his review earlier this year, describing both sizes of the laptop as “excellent computers with excellent performance, wonderful displays, and incredible battery life.” The MacBook Air M3 lasted over 10 hours in our battery stress test with video playback.
While B&H's $200-off deal is for the 13-inch model, the retailer (which operates online but also has a major retail store in Manhattan) has the 15-inch model discounted by $150. If you like having more room for your apps and desktop (or, like me, need larger text for aging eyes), the larger model may be the better option.
One thing you should keep in mind before placing an order is that B&H’s return policy states that it will not accept returns of computers once the packaging has been opened. While you can contact customer service to request an exchange if something is wrong out of the box, buyer’s remorse alone won’t be enough to get your money back. This is in contrast to competitors like the Apple Store, amazon, and Best Buy, so keep that in mind before proceeding. Aside from that footnote, though, B&H has been a partner with Apple for nearly a decade and has built a solid reputation among customers since its founding in 1973.
