October starts to pass and so far all we’ve gotten is a very confusing Apple Pencil, despite rumors about iMacs and iPads. Well, it looks like the new 24-inch iMac is on the way this month after all. Mark Gurman thinks so, since ai-revamping-siri-search-apple-music-and-other-apps-lo1ffr7p?srnd=undefined&sref=ExbtjcSG”>written on his Switched on Newsletter for Bloomberg today that will arrive very soon; in fact, as early as October 30th. That would end, as Gurman points out, a drought of more than 900 days since the M1 iMac launched in the first half of 2021. While he didn’t specify the chip today, it did. previously predicted This update would put an M3 chip in the new iMac.
Gurman writes that he was “told that Apple is planning to launch a Mac-focused product later this month.” He adds that if you try to order the iMac, the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and any of the other high-end Pro models, several of their configurations won’t ship until November. Gurman calls this, and the fact that Apple releases its earnings in November, a “clear sign” that something is afoot in Cupertino. As he says, the last time Apple postponed discussion of this quarter’s earnings until after October, it had just made an announcement about the Mac and iPad.
As Gurman acknowledged, the 14-inch and 16-inch Pro laptops were updated in January, so they may still be on the 2024 release schedule, but it’s been more than a year since the 13-inch MacBook Pro was updated inches and the iMac. Once again, he is approaching his third year with the same chip.
At the end of the subscriber version of Switched on, Gurman responded to a reader’s question asking if he thinks the next MacBooks will see changes beyond internal updates. He says he doesn’t expect any significant differences aside from processors and perhaps “minor improvements to displays,” but predicts the next real change will be a new iMac Pro in 2025, then OLED MacBook Pros in 2026, likely with updated designs and features. .
