It will soon be possible to replace the speakers in the latest MacBook Pro models without having to replace the entire top case, as has been done for a long time. A note seen by It reportedly informed Apple Stores and authorized service providers this week that the speakers will be available as stand-alone components for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip family. A source also told the publication that this will also be an option for repairs on older MacBook Pro models with Apple silicon.
The change should allow for a less expensive repair. Until now, the process involved replacing the entire top box, including the battery and other parts, which is quite expensive.
