50 Cent and his millions of social media followers were reported to have been the target of a crypto pump-and-dump scam on Friday that resulted in hackers pocketing a tidy chunk of change before the whole thing shut down. The exact amount they won is unclear; the rapper initially wrote in instagram.com/p/C8fW3MrO46P/?hl=en&img_index=1″ rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank” data-ylk=”slk:instagram;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:1;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas”>instagram that “whoever did this made $300,000,000 in 30 minutes” (for x-hacker-memecoin-rug-pull-scam” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank” data-ylk=”slk:Cointelegraph;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:2;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas”>Cointelegraph
The scammers used account x and 50 Cent's website Thisis50 to push $GUNIT. “My twitter and Thisis 50.com were hacked. I have no association with this crypto,” 50 Cent wrote in an instagram post containing screenshots of the unfolding disaster. “twitter worked quickly to re-block my account,” he added. His x account and Thisis50.com still appear to be unavailable. Stay safe and beware of crypto shilling celebrities.
