The question is no longer whether we can solve the problem with ai, but to what extent it produces sustainable and reliable results. What we need now is good craftsmanship, governance, ethics and ai education.
Since I was a child, I have always been intrigued and interested in new technologies and today we live in a world where smart and connected devices have become part of our daily lives. When you have a background in engineering or another technical background, this might be the best time to be present. However, this smart new technology has a downside and is slowly but surely becoming more visible; A device where all the physical parts work perfectly fine can become a brick due to a lack of internet connection or an incorrect software update. A key part is that the logic is no longer necessarily hard-coded into the device itself, but is a model that is stored and loaded externally. The new logic is being data-driven and is essential in the transition to smarter devices, as it should better interact with our personal preferences. In this blog I will talk about that. Not all solutions require data and it is not necessary to incorporate it in all solutions, but there are solutions where we do need data.
I feel very lucky to have lived in a time when a color TV with a remote control was the most advanced device in many homes for many, many years. Technological advancement moves at such a rapid pace today that every day you can read about advancements in one field or another. Great innovations have led to mass production, lower prices and making it affordable for the average consumer. From smart watches that monitor our health to smart assistants that manage our homes. Smart devices were initially the rich ones, but now they are becoming cheaper than the old-fashioned traditional devices.
However, the new generation of smart devices may have a major drawback in that they do not guarantee the luxury of long-term use as they may rely on incremental software updates. Device logic is most often stored on external servers, making it easier and…
