Data are one of the most critical assets of many organizations. They constantly look for ways to use their large amounts of information to obtain competitive advantages.
Omron Corporation It is a leading technology provider in industrial automation, medical care and electronic components. In its formation of the Future 2030 Strategic Plan (SF2030), OMRON aims to address various social problems, boost sustainable business growth, transform commercial models and capacities, and accelerate digital transformation. In the heart of this transformation is the Omron Data & Analytics (ODAP) platform, an innovative initiative designed to revolutionize how the company takes advantage of its data assets.
This publication explores how Omron Europe is using amazon Web Services (AWS) to build its advanced ODAP and its progress towards taking advantage of the power of the generative ai.
Challenges
By using advanced data and analysis capabilities, organizations can obtain valuable information about their operations, industry trends and customer behaviors, leading to more informed strategies and greater vision. This approach is particularly powerful when applied to the critical data of the mission, such as business resources planning (ERP) and customer relations management systems (CRM) because these contain information about internal processes, supply chain management and interactions with customers. When analyzing their data, organizations can identify patterns in sales cycles, optimize inventory management or help adapt products or services to meet customer needs more effectively. However, organizations often face significant challenges when making these benefits due to:
- Data silos: Organizations often use multiple systems in regions or departments. The integration of these various sources to create a single source of truth is complex, which makes it difficult to generate unified reports or analyze interfunctional trends.
- Data governance challenges: Maintaining data governance consisting of different systems is crucial but complex. The implementation of uniform policies in different systems and departments presents significant obstacles.
- Different formats and standards: systems generally use varied data formats and structures. This disparity complicates data integration and cross -systems analysis, which requires significant effort to reconcile and harmonize data to obtain comprehensive information.
OMRON Data and Analysis Platform
To address these challenges, ODAP, ODAP, ODAP, ODAP, ODAP, ODAP, ODAP. This innovative solution was designed to serve as a centralized center for specific data assets, breaking down the barriers between several data and systems sources.
The following diagram shows a simplified architecture and some of the architectural services and patterns used for ODAP.
ODAP aimed at integrating data from multiple ERP and CRM systems, in addition to other relevant data sources throughout the organization. amazon Appflow was used to facilitate the soft and safe transfer of data from various sources to ODAP. In addition, the amazon Simple Storage Service (amazon S3) served as the central data lake, providing a scalable and profitable storage solution for the various types of data collected from different systems. The robust security characteristics provided by amazon S3, including encryption and durability, were used to provide data protection. Finally, ODAP was designed to incorporate avant -garde analysis tools and future ideas with ai.
Some of these tools included AWS cloud -based solutions, such as AWS Lambda and Aws Step functions. Lambda enables data processing tasks without event, promoted by events, which allow transformations and calculations in real time as the data arrives. Paso functions complement this orchestrating complex workflows, coordinating multiple Lambda functions and managing errors for sophisticated data processing pipes. This allows Omar to extract significant patterns and trends from their vast data repositories, supporting the most informed decision making at all levels of the organization.
The OMRON data strategy, represented in ODAP, also allowed the organization to unlock generative cases for the use of centered on tangible commercial results and greater productivity. Part of a comprehensive approach to use artificial intelligence and automatic learning (IA/ml) and generative IA includes a solid data strategy that can help provide reliable and high quality data.
Hugging the generative ai with amazon's mother rock
The company has identified several cases of use in which the generative ai can significantly affect operations, particularly in business analysis and intelligence (BI).
A key initiative is Odapchat, a chat -based chat assistant with IAI that can be used to interact with data using natural language consultations. This tool democratizes access to data throughout the organization, allowing even non -technical users to obtain valuable information.
An outstanding application is the SQL to natural language, which translates complex SQL queries in English and vice versa, vice versa, which closed the gap between technical and commercial teams. To boost these advanced characteristics of ai, Omron chose amazon's mother rock. This fully managed service offers a range of base models (FMS), providing flexibility to select the most appropriate model for each use case. The direct implementation of amazon Bedrock, along with its scalability to handle the growing data volumes and user applications, made it an ideal option for OMRON. amazon Bedrock's ability to admit several models of different suppliers helps ensure that Omaron can always use the most advanced ai capabilities as they evolve.
Crucially, the robust safety characteristics provided by amazon Bedrock align perfectly with strict OMRON data protection requirements. Some outstanding aspects include:
- Fine grain access controls
- NETWORK SAFETY CHARACTERISTICS, such as data encryption in transit and rest, or the ability to use private private private clouds (VPC), which helps ensure that confidential commercial data remains safe even when IA models process
- amazon Roca Baratería
These strict security controls offer an integral security approach that allows Omar to innovate with ai while maintaining the highest governance and data protection standards.
The following diagram shows a basic design of how the solution works. It helps to illustrate the main parts and how they work together so that the IA assistant does their job.
The system has three main sections:
- User interface – Users get involved with the chat interface housed in AWS. amazon Cognito manages user authentication processes, providing safe access to the application.
- Input processing backend – The amazon API gateway receives incoming messages, which are then processed by containers that are executed at amazon Elastic Container Service (amazon ECS). Chat conversations are preserved at amazon Dynamodb to be used for tracking conversation. amazon Bedrock is responsible for generating ai responses, and the tools are configured using Langchain, which helps determine how to handle different types of consultations. When necessary, the system can access an ODAP data warehouse to recover additional information.
- Document management – The documents are stored safely on amazon S3, and when new documents are added, a Lambda function processes them in fragments. These fragments become embedded using the amazon rock bed and the integrities are stored in a amazon Opensek service vector store for the semantic search.
Future results and plans
The implementation of ODAP and Odapchat in AWS has already yielded significant benefits for Omron:
- Report optimization, which leads to a more efficient and insightful analysis
- SQL to natural language capabilities fed by generative, making the data more accessible to non -technical users
- Increased commercial agility with completely deployed infrastructure
- Data democratization, allowing more employees to use data -based ideas
Looking towards the future, Omron plans to significantly expand their use of AWS services and even use the generative capacities of ai. The company aims to integrate additional data sources, including other critical mission systems, in ODAP. This expansion will be combined with improved data government measures to help promote the quality and compliance with data in growing data.
Omron is also exploring cases of generative use of more advanced generative, such as insert_initiative. These initiatives will use the evolving capacities provided by amazon Bedrock to potentially incorporate advanced ai models and security characteristics.
Conclusion
Omaron's trip with AWS demonstrates the transforming power of cloud -based data solutions and generative ai to overcome data silos and business innovation. Through the use of AWS services such as amazon Appflow, amazon S3 and amazon Bedrock, Omron has created a comprehensive, safe and adaptable data and analysis platform that not only meets its current needs, but also positions the company for future growth and innovation.
As organizations in all industries deal with similar data challenges, Omaron's story serves as an inspiring example of how to embrace cloud technologies and ai can lead to significant commercial transformation and a competitive advantage.
