The recent advancements and releases in the field of Artificial Intelligence have been able to bring a storm wave in the community. From researchers to students, everyone is learning the applications of AI to solve tasks in everyday life. With the release of the OpenAI chatbot, ChatGPT, based on the transformer architecture of GPT 3.5 and GPT 4, Large Language Models (LLMs) have attracted a lot of attention. While they elevate the field of natural language processing, these models have incredible ability to mimic humans and significant use cases. These models possess human-level capabilities in understanding and generating text that closely resembles human language.
Although these models have immense potential, they still have limitations, such as the presence of biased, private or harmful text. These models could unintentionally replicate biases or prejudices present in the data, as they learn from the massive volumes of data that are available online. LLMs may also produce or amplify offensive or inappropriate content, creating difficulties in ensuring the ethical and responsible use of these models. There may even be some unauthorized inclusion of copyrighted material. To address these issues, a renowned platform, H2O.ai, introduced h2oGPT, a set of open source code repositories for creating and using LLMs based on Pretrained Generative Transformers (GPTs).
Aiming to promote a more open and accessible AI ecosystem, h2oGPT is a testament to H20.ai’s commitment to democratizing AI. The main goal of this project is to create the best truly open source replacement for closed source methods. In association with the open source community, H2O.ai has made a series of enhanced h2oGPT models available under fully permissive Apache 2.0 licenses. These models have different parameters ranging from 7 to 40 billion and are ready for commercial use, allowing unrestricted use by individuals, groups and companies in their applications.
The flexibility that open source language models provide is one of their main benefits. Users can tailor these models with h2oGPT to their unique requirements, as h2oGPT opens up opportunities for innovation and customization, whether it’s improving healthcare systems, revolutionizing scientific research, or redefining educational experiences. h2oGPT also offers a feature in addition to its open source capabilities, which is 100% private document search using natural language. Thanks to this amazing development, it has allowed users to search private documents without jeopardizing the security or privacy of their data. It gives people and organizations access to unlock the knowledge contained in their private documents while maintaining full control over sensitive information by using the power of natural language processing.
In conclusion, h2oGPT looks promising and a great addition to AI developments. The adoption of open source language models, such as h2oGPT, is essential to advance AI research and make it more reliable and accessible. This openness fosters creativity, responsibility, and fairness among the AI community. With h20GPT, H2O.ai aims to democratize AI and open up LLMs to all, helping to create a more diverse and ethical AI environment.
