He Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro, which we consider the best option for people new to mesh Wi-Fi systems, is on sale for $220 for a two-pack. That's a 27 percent discount, which is the best price all year and just $20 more than the all-time low it hit during Black Friday last November. The set of two should provide 4,400 square feet of coverage. If you have a particularly large house or difficult areas due to thick walls or other interferences, you may want to the three pack. That set was reduced to $319 after a 20 percent discount.
Google's easy-to-use mesh Wi-Fi system is on sale for $80 off the list price.
Mesh Wi-Fi systems allow you to add a distributed set of smaller nodes around your home, solving many connectivity problems, including equipment provided by poor quality ISPs and dead zones in distant or awkward corners. The Wi-Fi 7 standard has just been released, but few devices support it yet, and the speeds the protocol can offer (along with the price) are probably overkill for the average home. Wi-Fi 6E, on the other hand, is mature and much more affordable. It is very capable of delivering superior wireless performance in the home for those coming from previous generations of Wi-Fi.
In our review, Engadget's Daniel Cooper noted that the Nest Pro system isn't faster (although it's pretty fast) or more customizable than its competitors, but it's one of the most affordable Wi-Fi 6E systems out there. It's also tremendously easy to use, even for those who have never worked with mesh routers before. The Nest Pro should especially appeal to anyone who's already bought into Google's smart home ecosystem, as it makes good use of the Home app, where many of its automated controls may already be found.
One of the biggest selling points is Google's promise of regular software updates, which means you should be able to configure the system and not have to think about Wi-Fi settings for several years.
