The store’s 78 employees, represented by the Communications Workers Association of America (CWA), shared details of the contract, which includes wage increases of up to 11.5 percent over the next three years and guaranteed paid time off. The contract also guarantees employee input in scheduling, job protection in the event of a store closure, and health benefits.
“After all the work we’ve done and all the obstacles Apple has put in our way, we have finally won the protections and improvements in wages and benefits we deserve,” Michael Forsythe, a member of the Apple Retail Union-CWA, said in a statement. “We hope this serves as an example to the tens of thousands of Apple retail workers that when we stand together, we have the power to make meaningful changes in our workplace.”
