Details have just been released about an upcoming epic-looking sci-fi adventure game. The images and trailer depict a post-apocalyptic world where humans dressed in primitive-style outfits fight giant dinosaur-like robots while orchestral music plays. It all seems a little familiar. But wait, this isn't Guerrilla's next Horizon game. Oh, no, no. This is a initial look in a game from a Tencent subsidiary called Polaris Quest.
Guerrilla and Sony don't exactly have a monopoly on tameable robot dinosaurs or open-world creation games. But at first glance, Motiram Light It's a pretty blatant Horizon rip-off. It mimics Guerilla's art style and animations, right down to the abundant lens flares. One image shows a trio of human characters using bows and spears to confront a mammoth-style machine. Even the game's logo font and description mimic Horizon's. Motiram Light is about humanity's attempt to “rebuild itself from the dawn of a new primitive era.”
There are some differences, to be fair. Here you can build your own shelters, while trained “Mechanimals” can help you in combat. There is also cooperative support for up to 10 players. While Guerrilla is working on a multiplayer game, the recent lego horizon adventures The spinoff is the only Horizon game to date to feature a cooperative mode.
In a sense, fans of the Horizon series will understand why the games will likely appear to have been effectively cloned. We'll have to wait to see how egregiously Polaris Quest has copied Aloy's adventures. Motiram Light It doesn't have a release window yet, but the seemingly free title is coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store. Unless Sony first slaps Tencent with a cease and desist, that is.
