Launching a new product is a challenge, but the challenge that most companies look forward to is a way to create demand for the product. Even the best-laid plans must be changed to avoid unexpected setbacks at a product launch.
This is all too familiar to Pink Sauce creator Veronica Shaw, aka Chef Pii. Chef Pii is a personal chef from Miami, Florida who is also a social media influencer.
Chef Pii first introduced his pink sauce to the world on his TikTok channel in June 2022. The sauce looks a lot like you’re smothering chicken in Pepto-Bismol, but thankfully this isn’t the case.
Pink Sauce quickly became a viral must-try product, as Chef Pii’s website began selling the highly-demanded sauce online on July 1, 2022, at $20 a bottle and it was running out. That’s a short change from debuting a sauce to trying to mass-produce the product. The quick retail debut came with criticism over licensing and customer health.
“I want to inform you that we stopped productivity, health is our number one priority. Your trust is our number one priority, making you happy. And getting the pink sauce right is our number one priority,” Chef Pii responded to critics of him on Today.

Chef Pii has partnered with Dave’s Gourmet, a sauce company, which has labeled one of the sauces, Dave’s Insanity Sauce, “the world’s hottest sauce.”
Dave’s Gourmet has been sautéing the world since 1993. After Dave’s Gourmet stepped in, bringing its 30 years of experience to bear, it set out to relaunch the sauce to the public, assuming the role of exclusive supplier and distributor of Pink Sauce. This partnership gives Chef Pii the ability to push the Pink Sauce brand forward while leaving production to Dave’s Gourmet.
Pink Sauce still needed another partnership to bring its spicy wonder to the world. walmart (WMT) – Get a free report has reached an agreement to be the exclusive retailer of Pink Sauce through July 2023. Walmart will have Pink Sauce in more than 4,300 of its stores, and it will also be available on Walmart.com. Walmart has over 4,700 locations in the United States alone, so not all Walmart locations in the US will have Pink Sauce in stock.
The sauce, which is vegan and gluten-free, can be added to multiple foods like chicken, French fries, pork chops, vegetables, and salads. It has been described that the pink sauce popsugar by Marie Wright, Global Head of Flavors at Archer Daniels Midland Co.like a ‘twist on the ranch’.
Push the critics aside
The Pink Sauce craze didn’t come without its list of problems. The Miami personal chef made mistakes in introducing her unique seasoning to the world, but not in the way you might think. She struggled with production and labels. The ingredients label was apparently misspelled with vinegar and the servings per bottle were incorrectly listed as well.
Chef Pii responded to his critics by saying, “Number one, my apologies, my apologies, my apologies,” he said on TikTok. “I’m only human, I’m not perfect.” expected.
Meeting the public’s expectations and enduring all the ‘feed-back’ didn’t kill off Pink Sauce or its creator. It was just going back to the drawing board to get it right. The sauce was still running low despite all the criticism about its flavor, labeling, and color.
Chef Pii responded to critics about the color not being as vibrant as shown in the TikTok video by saying that the sauce was made less bright after complaints that it was too bright. So naturally now there were complaints that it wasn’t bright enough.
