- Uniti Group (NASDAQ:UNIT) has secured a new 20-year contract with a strategic hyperscale customer in Alabama.
- As part of the contract, Uniti will build a new long-haul route that will span more than 200 route miles when complete, connecting new data centers optimized for Generative ai and expanding Uniti’s reach across the state.
- The significance of this project goes beyond just connectivity between Montgomery and Mobile. It will enable Uniti customers to interconnect with other regional and long-haul routes, thereby connecting data centers in multiple markets.
- This agreement was awarded in the second quarter and Uniti expects to deploy these fibre routes to its customers in 2025.
- Uniti has installed approximately 4,000 route miles of fiber in Alabama over the past several years, with a total capital investment of more than $300 million.
