LONDON – TotalEnergies (EPA:) will suspend investment in its Adani Green energy project until there is more clarity about a US bribery case against Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, the French group's chief executive, Patrick Pouyane, said on Tuesday.
The French company, which owns about 19.8% of Adani Green, has other options in its portfolio to meet its renewable energy growth targets, Pouyanne told Reuters on the sidelines of the Energy Intelligence Forum.
Pouyane stressed that his company is not abandoning the project, but that it will not finance any new project.
TotalEnergies said on Monday it had not been informed about a US investigation into possible bribery and corruption in Adani Green Energy (NS:) Limited, adding that it will stop contributing financially to its investments in Adani Group after last week's allegation.
