Many cruise ship workers have very little free time. Your waiters, waiters and hostesses are lucky if they have a break during the day or if they have time to sleep for 8 hours, let alone time to visit ports.
Cruise ship artists, however, live a different life. They have a busy schedule with rehearsals, performances and secondary responsibilities, such as helping with passenger muster drills.

But artists have free time. In many cases, they have at least one full day off per week to allow for physical recovery. Singers need to rest their voices and dancing can be hard on the body.
Giving artists a day off gives them a chance to recover and recuperate. They can also recharge their souls by visiting ports and seeing sites around the world.

The Freedom of the Seas singer shares her day off
Transcription:
Hey guys, welcome back to another vlog here about Freedom of the Seas. If you're new to the channel, I'm Krista and I'm a singer here on board. As a performer, a lot of our work is done at night, so in this video I wanted to share what we do when we have a little free time during the day.
This vlog is a little all over the place with birthday celebrations, going back to the gym, and a few other things like falling off paddleboards. I hope you enjoy it, and if you're feeling generous, consider subscribing. It really helps me and the channel.
Well, let's get into it. The room is freezing, so I'll put on this blanket. This week is our first eight-day cruise.
Until now, we had been doing seven-day cruises and we are going to alternate between six and eight days, which is very exciting because the ports are changing too. We go to St. Martin, St. Kitts and St. Thomas, which we've actually been going to St. Thomas, but St. Martin and St. Kitts are new. Tomorrow in St. Martin, we are going catamaran for Jeff's birthday.
Jeff is my dance captain. It will be very fun. Plus, we only have eight weeks left on this contract.
I am speechless. I feel like, I don't know, the end of a contract is always a little stressful. You wonder, what am I going to do next when you don't have the next contract ready, you know? And I've talked about this before on my channel, where it's always that limbo moment where you think, do I want to do another contract or is it time to adjust to life on Earth and see what it could be like? .
It's really a crazy feeling to have spent most of my 20s working on cruise ships. When we live in a house, we eventually start from scratch, whereas I feel like people who maybe went to college have like their college couch and they have some bowls and plates and, you know, a couple of things to get them started. . I have like a spatula.
I like more random things. Those thoughts are like in my brain. I have like, oh, eight weeks left.
What are we going to do next? Your guess is as good as mine. We'll see what happens. Um, anyway, I wasn't planning on rambling like that right now.
I just did it. I guess there are a lot of feelings in me, in my heart. We're also going to Chop's for dinner tonight for Jeff's birthday, so that will be really nice.
I don't really have any plans for the rest of the afternoon, so I'm probably just going to work on my computer, maybe work on some music I need to learn for a jazz set we're doing. But other than that, tonight I'll relax until dinner. Well, here's dinner.
This cute pink set from Abercrombie. I need to decide what shoes I'm going to wear, but since this one has this kind of flower and there's like bows here, it might work. Do you believe? It's something fun.
It's kind of fun, right? Or we can do black. It looks like your hair is black. So I thought, does that do it? My hair is not black.

A visit to San Martin
Lower. Good morning from San Martín. We walked about 10 minutes to the marina where we basically exchanged a large boat for a small one.
This catamaran was also much more elegant than I think any of us anticipated. It had indoor and outdoor dining, including a kitchen. And then, in front, there was a place to lie down and get a tan.
And downstairs, there were four bedrooms. Yes, four. How crazy.
And I apologize. I sort of failed at filming a boat tour. I think he was very excited.
We had snacks and drinks included for the day, as well as snorkeling, a floating mat, and paddle boards. Hi guys. Welcome to my channel.
So today we are at the pool. Health. Health.
Oh my god. Don't know. It's so healthy.
A trip to San Cristobal
Good morning from St. Kitts. We haven't been here this entire contract. This is our first time in St. Kitts.
I'm just waiting for Robert right now. He's at a rehearsal for 70s Night, who will be performing tonight. We have parade later today.
And so there are a couple of things going on, but let's go down and enjoy St. Kitts for a while. To decide which swimsuit to wear today, I have them all in this bag. I think I might wear a bandeau because we need to work on getting rid of some tan lines.
So today we are going to use black and everything black. Sometimes I forget I have a window and need to close it so people can't see me while I change. Like when we're at sea, I never close it because obviously there's no one out there, but I have to remember that people can definitely see me if I see them.
They probably aren't really looking, but we'll just shut them down. This one is a little smaller than our last boat. And this is our new one.
Alright, hopefully this music isn't too loud, but we're at this resort. It's like a little hotel here in St. Kitts. Robert and I came here in 2018.
It's just fun to go back and see how it still is. It's great because it's free for the crew. I think if you're a guest, it's like $20 for a day pass, but the food is really good.
The drinks are very good and not expensive. It's pretty standard, I'd say. We ate before we got off the boat, so I haven't eaten yet, but I've seen people with lobster rolls and it looks really delicious.
But we're just enjoying the sun, the pool and the view. You can see the boats behind me and we walked here from the boat. It was like a 15 minute walk, so it wasn't that bad.
That was really… No. It's very deep. It's like that.
It's probably about two feet. Do it. Do it one more time.
Pretend you didn't just come in. We are back to the ship. It's around 3:30 and we have a parade at 4:30. We love a parade.
Let's fix this. Okay, we just finished the show, but Robert and I are cleaning backstage this week, which means, as it seems, we have to clean backstage. So right now I'm sweeping the locker room.
We have to sweep and then take out the trash and replace the toilet paper and paper towels. That's all. But every week, two people are cleaning backstage, and it's for the captain's inspection, which is when the captain comes to different departments and makes sure that there are no fire hazards and, I don't know, that you're keeping your place of work. essentially safe work.
So right now we're cleaning up backstage. Okay, I just wanted to pop up here real quick. I didn't film an outing for this video, so I just wanted to thank you for watching.
I hope you liked this video. As I said at the beginning, we only have eight cruise ships. No, actually when I started filming this movie, I had eight cruises left.
Now we only have seven left. I'm trying to gather a bunch of videos before I leave and film as much as I can. So if there's anything you want to see in the next few weeks, let me know below.

And I'm also looking for assumptions about the life of the ship. What do you assume about living and working on a cruise ship? Or if you have any questions about living and working on a cruise ship, write them below. I'm working on an assumptions versus reality video.
So it would be very, very useful for me in that video. And consider subscribing if you haven't already. Yes, that's all.
See you next time. Bye bye.
