Fast facts
- Samsung's 2024 home entertainment lineup already offered larger-screen Neo QLED, QLED, and OLED TVs, but a new model can now be ordered.
- The 98-inch Crystal UHD TV doesn't feature mini LEDs, but it's significantly cheaper than other Samsung models.
Samsung (SSNLF) It has long offered large screens, but its latest 98-inch TV, the DU9000, is reducing the cost of entry by several thousand dollars. It is a 98-inch Crystal UHD TV with an attractive price of $3,999.99.
This massive Crystal UHD TV undercuts Samsung's same-sized QLED Q80C offering by $4,000 and boasts more advanced features to boost its appeal. However, to be clear, mini LEDs or Quantum Dots do not power it; provides a 4K image and features some ai tricks to improve the quality.

Topping the list of features is Samsung's Supersize Picture Enhancer, which is designed to improve overall image quality and sharpness. This way you can upscale lower resolution content (think HD) to closer to 4K and combine it with HDR and PurColor support. Samsung probably believes this can improve performance and make the DU9000 a strong competitor against the TCL and Hisense with larger screens. However, some have more advanced imaging technology and physically more LEDs, such as the TCL Mini LED QM8.
Samsung's DU9000 also features a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, Motion Xcelerator and Game Bar, similar to QLED, Neo QLED and OLED TVs. This allows you to easily adjust the core settings of the games. The TV is also powered by the Samsung-made Crystal 4K processor, and from an audio perspective, when paired with a Samsung soundbar, the TV's speaker will act as the center channel.
It also runs Samsung's Tizen smart TV interface out of the box, providing easy access to major streaming services. You can even control connected smart home devices through a SmartThings panel and create individual profiles for members of your household.
We hope to test the 98-inch DU9000 further and compare it to the competition, but if it's already sold, Samsung is accepting orders for the $3,999.99 TV right now. It's the brand's latest big-screen TV and sits alongside the 98-inch QLED, Neo QLED 4K, Neo QLED 8K, and even the massive 110-inch, $149,999.99 Micro LED TV.
