Mercedes Benz (DAIF) Dealers stated, as previously reported in October 2023, that they found it difficult to sell the German luxury carmaker's EQ line of electric cars.
They argued that the electric lineup does not align with the range of most Benz buyers, as it lacks the “lust factor” of Benz's flagship gasoline cars, such as the six-figure S-Class flagship sedan.
“Our cars have to be 'junk' cars,” they said. “The S-Class has maintained good loyalty because it is aspirational. An EQS is not something most people aspire to have.”
With this in mind, Mercedes went back to the drawing board and came up with a new and improved flagship electric vehicle worthy of high aspirations.

At first glance, the new 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan has been visually redesigned to appeal to those stuffy old guys.
Mercedes buyers who prefer the country club to the nightclub will appreciate the new styling, which replaces bold and flashy with more subtle details. Gone is the huge three-pointed star on the front and inside is an S580-style three-bar grille with a signature Benz trinket: an appropriate Mercedes hood ornament.
The bodywork still retains the EQS' signature 'jelly bean' look, but additional chrome accents and an AMG Line front bumper create a distinctive look over the outgoing EQ sedan.

Most of the new EQ's improvements occur inside the cabin, where passengers can enjoy the benefits of its complete, comfort-oriented renovation. The EQS's rear seats are the place to be, with extra foam padding and La-Z-Boy-style power seatbacks that can recline between 27 and 36 degrees with the flip of a switch.
Those looking for extra comfort (or want to sleep like a baby in their electric Mercedes) can opt for what Mercedes calls the 'Executive Interior Package'. In the package, the rear seats recline up to 38 degrees and can be pneumatically adjusted for optimal seat depth.
Additionally, rear seat passengers can enjoy quickly heated seats, rear seat pillows, and a front passenger seat that can be folded forward for additional rear legroom for the ultimate chauffeur experience. .

The biggest change for the EQS 2025 is the addition of a larger battery. The new car receives a 118 kWh battery pack, a significant improvement over the outgoing EQS's 108.4 kWh pack. Mercedes has not revealed range figures, but the automaker says range has improved with the new battery.
The three-pointed star also says that the 2025 EQS will feature new regenerative braking software that will allow for greater energy recovery, as well as special software that helps preserve brake pads and discs by automatically applying the pads to the discs. from time to time. .
Mercedes has not announced any pricing for the 2025 EQS sedan, although they say dealers will receive the new version of the vehicle later this year. The current EQS Sedan already has a high price; starting at $104,400.
