The popular Las Vegas Strip headlining residencies often extend for additional shows for days, weeks, months, and sometimes years.
One of the most notable Las Vegas residencies has been pop superstar Barry Manilow's legendary engagement at the International Theater at Westgate Las Vegas, just off the Strip. In September 2023, Manilow broke Elvis Presley's record of 636 sold-out shows at the theater.

It took Manilow about 18 years to break the record, when he began performing at the International Theater in February 2005.
Barry Manilow has a lifetime residency agreement
The 81-year-old “Copacabana” singer will likely perform at Westgate whenever he can after signing a lifetime residency agreement in December 2024 to perform at the 1,582-seat International Theatre.
Under the agreement, Manilow will not perform at any Las Vegas casino other than the Westgate for the rest of his career, but could do another tour or perform at other venues outside of Las Vegas.
Other long-running residencies include '70s pop singer Donny Osmond's engagement at Harrah's Showroom on the Strip, which resumes February 11 and runs through June 7, 2025. Osmond's residency began in August 2021 and has been extended several times.

Mr. Las Vegas Wayne Newton, who first performed in Las Vegas in 1959 and has lived in the city since the 1960s, began his most recent residency at Bugsy's Cabaret at the Flamingo Las Vegas in January 2022.
The 82-year-old singer was set to close the “up close and personal” residency in December 2022, but has extended it three times. He played 103 more shows in 2023, 102 in 2024, and is scheduled for 108 shows in 2025.
The residency is scheduled to close after one performance on December 31, 2025, but Newton will likely sign for more shows in 2026.
Sometimes a residency adds shows before the artist has taken the stage for a first performance.

Chesney is the first superstar in the country to sign up for a residency at Sphere Las Vegas.
“I know the rush we felt on stage in those football stadiums, with very little production, just this amazing band, the songs and true, the people who come to see us,” Chesney said in a Jan. 22 statement. “Put all that in a building capable of what Esfera offers? Surround sound, a roof, the fact that there are only 17,600 people. There was no way we wouldn't do it.”
